California’s personal injury lawyers have reached a new low in their latest attempt to reverse the state’s landmark MICRA legislation (“California’s Malpractice Ruse,” April 16).

Regarding the recent article, “Providers want Trump to stay out of tort reform,” the assertions made do not represent the views of most physicians and providers, nor do they convey how our broken medical liability system drives up healthcare costs and threatens patient access to care.

The Health Coalition on Liability and Access (HCLA), a grassroots network of patients and physicians, understands how our broken liability system helps neither.

We were disappointed to read the Aug. 3, 2016, article by Gina Colata, “Why ‘Useless’ Surgery Is Still Popular,” which does your readers and the public a disservice.

The March 27, 2016 article by Benedict Carey, “On C.T.E. and Athletes, Science Remains in Its Infancy,” correctly points out that much of the science on chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) is unsettled, and the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS) and Congress of Neurological Surgeons (CNS) agree that CTE research is in its infancy and continues to evolve.
